Durr develops paint application with high edge definition and no overspray

Germany’s Durr has developed a new technique that applies paints over large areas or in simple patterns with high edge definition – and absolutely no overspray. The innovative EcoPaintJet applicator won this year’s innovation award ‘Deutscher Innovationspreis’ in Germany, and is now available for the general industry in an easily integrated set. Paint company Adler has developed paints tailored to the new application technology.

In woodworking, shipbuilding, electronics manufacturing, and many other industry sectors, product and component surfaces are coated to protect them or add colour. This previously involved a great deal of effort if the coating had to be applied with high edge definition since the surfaces either need to be manually masked or film-wrapped. There is also a significant amount of waste, both in terms of adhesive tape and paint loss due to overspray. According to Durr, with the new overspray-free application set, both of these challenges are

As any film nerd will tell you, what TV you watch movies on matters. So if you’re going to pass on going to the movie theater, you’ll want to make sure you have a quality TV set at home that’s just as good. And you’ll definitely want one that can show 4K video content in all its glory.

When it comes to watching movies and TV shows in glorious full definition, a 4K TV is one of the best options because of its resolution. It’s superior to 1080p TVs in that its horizontal display resolution is about 4,000 pixels—about four times that of the former. The result is noticeable and will make films look much sharper.

But while all 4K TVs have a resolution quality in common, they’re not all the same. Depending on how much space you want to dedicate

Donald Trump administration imposes new curbs on H-1B visas to protect US workers, narrows ‘specialty occupation’ definition

Washington: The Trump administration has announced new restrictions on H-1B nonimmigrant visa programme which it said is aimed at protecting American workers, restoring integrity and to better guarantee that H-1B petitions are approved only for qualified beneficiaries and petitioners, a move which is likely to affect thousands of Indian IT professionals.

The interim final rule announced by the Department of Homeland Security on Tuesday, less than four weeks ahead of the US presidential election, will narrow the definition of “specialty occupation” as Congress intended by closing the overbroad definition that allowed companies to game the system.

It will also require companies to make “real” offers to “real employees,” by closing loopholes and preventing the displacement of the American workers. And finally, the new rules would enhance the department’s

Object Management Group Request for Proposal, Interface Definition Language

The Object Management Group (OMG), an international technology standards organization, announced its request for proposal (RFP) an Interface Definition Language v4 (IDL4) to C++ Language Mapping specification.

The language mapping specification will provide data distribution service (DDS) and CORBA users with interoperable API for C++ programming language.

“The existing IDL to C++ language mappings are currently being exercised by thousands of DDS- and CORBA-based systems,” said RFP author & principal software engineer at RTI Fernando Garcia Aranda, in a press release. “As new systems adopt OMG IDL, it is important to keep our standard mappings current so new and existing systems can benefit from the new additions to the language.

US gig worker rule proposed, narrowing employee definition

The issue of which workers in our economy have rights to many benefits and protections — like employer health insurance or unemployment benefits — has become critical during the pandemic. And it often comes down to how that worker is classified: as an employee or an independent contractor.

This week the Labor Department proposed a new rule that would make it easier for companies to designate workers, including gig workers, as independent contractors who are ineligible for many protections.

The move comes in response to several state laws, like California’s AB5, which have made it harder to classify workers as independent contractors.

In California, the debate has mostly centered on gig workers, like drivers for ride-hailing services. Most of them would be reclassified as employees under state law.

But the new federal rule could set up competing legal criteria for how worker classification should be decided. And that could cause

After 40 Years, Updated Pain Definition Aims To Include Those Once Left Out

It’s not uncommon for people with chronic pain but no clear injury to deal with doubting physicians.

Katie Clark, a retired middle school English Language Arts teacher in Michigan with fibromyalgia, said she has been lucky with her doctors. Fibromyalgia causes chronic pain that doctors think arises from amplified pain signals in the brain and spinal cord.

“I’ve been fortunate to have doctors that mostly believe the pain I feel is real,” she said. But even then, “They don’t fully understand that it affects you emotionally, physically, your energy level, your ability to think straight. That is difficult to communicate to doctors.”

In the past, healthcare providers have ascribed to a narrow definition of pain, viewing
