Calviri, Inc., a biotech startup focused on ending deaths from cancer, announces that Skysong Innovations, the intellectual property management company for Arizona State University (“ASU”), granted Calviri an exclusive license to ASU’s Immunosignature patent portfolio. The portfolio consists of multiple granted and pending patents for the use and optimization of immunosignatures as an antibody-based diagnostic platform in the United States and the rest of the world.
The Immunosignature Technology was invented and originally developed by Stephen Albert Johnston, now CEO of Calviri, and his colleagues at ASU. The platform uses hundreds of thousands of chemically diverse peptides to provide an unbiased profile of an individual’s antibody repertoire. It has been applied to both infectious and chronic diseases in published reports. Initially intended as simply a diagnostic tool to detect disease onset, additional work has shown its potential for measuring disease severity and response to therapies.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Spectrum Health physicians recently completed their 200th procedure using robotic technology to diagnose early-stage lung cancers, officials say.
The integrated health system’s use of a robotic bronchoscopy platform has resulted in the diagnosis of 20 percent more cases, according to an Oct. 12 news release. This improves patient outcomes by providing access to earlier treatment options with more accuracy.
Two years ago, Spectrum Health introduced Auris Health’s Monarch Platform, an innovative endoscopy tool. More recently, physicians have combined this with Phillips’ Cone Beam CT technology and augmented fluoroscopy to help diagnose with high precision.

Now, a multisite clinical trial led by the University of South Florida Health (USF Health) Morsani College of Medicine and its primary hospital affiliate Tampa General Hospital (TGH) provides the first evidence that 3D-printed alternative nasal swabs work as well, and safely, as the standard synthetic flocked nasal swabs.
The results were published online Sept. 10 in Clinical Infectious Diseases. A commentary accompanying the paper cites the authors’ timely, collaborative response to supply chain disruptions affecting testing capacity early in the pandemic.
