Global Online Music Streaming Growth Slowed Down in Q2 2020

Global online music streaming revenues declined 2% QoQ but grew 13% YoY in Q2 2020 at $6.7 billion, according to the latest Counterpoint Research findings. Noise can make or break a dining experience, according to a laboratory study replicating common noise levels in restaurants.

The acoustic experts say the study proves that high noise levels can play a major part in a dining experience — along with the quality of the food and restaurant service.

“Our study not only shows that relaxing music at low noise levels increases food enjoyment but indicates that even ‘normal’ background noise levels in restaurants can be unpleasant to diners,” says lead author, Flinders University PhD candidate Mahmoud Alamir.

“We do not always recognise the cumulative effect of noise to our stress or annoyance levels, but we see how every one of us has sensitivity to noise in different ways.”

It might change how you think about using music on Twitch entirely.

The issue that Soundtrack is solving is pretty simple: if music is copyrighted, you can’t use it while you’re streaming unless you have the rights to those songs. If you do happen to use copyrighted music during a broadcast, there’s not a whole lot Twitch can necessarily do because it’s being played live. MAHWAH, NJ — Ramapo College has announced its newest graduate program, a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Creative Music Technology.

The program, the only one of its kind in New Jersey, according to a college news release, combines the music production techniques with advanced theoretical training.

Debuting in the fall of 2021, the program will utilize the college’s studio space.

According to the college, Ramapo’s MFA is specifically focused on hands-on and practical studio classes in the recording arts, electronic and computer music, and emerging intermedia art forms. Through the program, the college hopes to enable students to pursue careers as producers, recording engineers, audio technologists, educators, or contemporary artists.

Apple services outage impacted App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News, iCloud for three hours

Apple suffered a sweeping services outage on Tuesday night, with major platforms like the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, iCloud and others rendered inaccessible for several hours.

Trouble started at around 8 p.m. Eastern, according to Apple’s System Status webpage. As of this writing, some 25 services have been down for nearly two hours.
