Tesla will roll out its FSD feature in a closed beta system test next week
The new autopilot software will be available to a small pool of Tesla owners
The updated FSD software is expected to include many new functionalities
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced via Twitter on Monday that the company’s autopilot self-driving mode would be made available in a small beta test starting next week.
The closed beta-test system, which will be limited to a small pool of “expert and careful drivers,” will roll out next week, Car And Driver reported.
The Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature has undergone a complete reboot and is expected to carry a lot of new functionality. The rewrite also updated the autopilot’s labeling software to enable it to interpret the environment in 4D instead of 2D.
Based on Musk’s recent descriptions, the updated software will build on its current “traffic light
Twilio today announced its biggest acquisition to date, spearheading a strong move into customer data management alongside its existing API-based tools for building and running customer communications services. Twilio is paying $3.2 billion “in Twilio Class A common stock, on a fully diluted and cash free, debt free basis” to acquire Segment, a marketing technology startup that lets organizations pull in customer data from one app into another, by way of APIs, and use its platform to better control the movement of that customer data.
The deal is expected to close in Q4 2020, and Segment will become a division of Twilio, the companies said.
The deal was first reported to be in the works on Friday. (FWIW we’d also gotten the same tip and had been investigating it when that story got published. Our sources had said that the deal was going to be between $3 billion and $4
Intel has confirmed its next-gen Rocket Lake desktop processors will launch in Q1 2021 and include PCIe 4.0 support.
Intel’s John Bonini, VP and GM of Client Computing Group Desktop, Workstations and Gaming, posted in a blog today, detailing the company’s commitment to gaming. The successors to the current Comet Lake 10th Gen processors are expected, amongst other things to bring PCIe 4.0 support – currently lacking from its mainstream CPUs, which have meant they’ve lagged behind AMD’s current 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs that brought the new standard to its AM4 platform last year. Not only this, but Nvidia’s recent RTX 3000 series graphics cards also support PCIe 4.0.
The launch of Intel’s Z490 chipset and 10th Gen CPUs several months ago saw several motherboard manufacturers reveal that their new products
A Poco executive has apparently claimed that a true Poco F1 successor is on the way.
The representative also addressed criticism of the brand’s rebranding strategy.
Poco will reportedly continue to offer rebranded devices in the future.
The Poco F2 Pro is one of the best affordable flagships in 2020, coming as a rebranded version of the China-only Redmi K30 Pro. Nevertheless, we thought it made all the right compromises for the price.
Still, the $500 price means that the Poco F2 Pro is significantly more expensive than the ~$300 Poco F1 launched back in 2018. Now, Poco country director Anuj Sharma has confirmed to The Indian Express that the Poco F2 Pro isn’t coming to India.
Furthermore, the Poco exec said a real successor to the Poco F1 is indeed coming:
The Poco F1 was a device that changed the market and consumers expect the same from the successor.
An international research team including the University of Adelaide has found further evidence that rare gene mutations can cause cerebral palsy, findings which could lead to earlier diagnosis and new treatments for this devastating movement disorder.
In the study published in the journal Nature Genetics researchers employed gene sequencing to examine the DNA of 250 cerebral palsy families, and compared this to a control group of almost 1800 unaffected families. They then demonstrated the impact rare gene mutations can have on movement control using a fruit fly model.
The findings have important clinical implications. They will provide some answers to parents, as well as guide healthcare and family planning such as counselling for recurrence risk — often quoted as around 1 per cent but could be as high as 10 per cent when factoring in genetic risks.
Co-author of the research, Emeritus Professor Alastair MacLennan, AO, at the University of
Microsoft’s Teams had a very busy September adding a host of new features. Now, the firm is looking to improve the performance of its Teams service as it continues in the battle to beat Zoom in the video conferencing space.

CHICAGO (AP) — News Friday that President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump had tested positive for COVID-19 sparked an explosion of rumors, misinformation and conspiracy theories that in a matter of hours littered the social media feeds of many Americans.
Tweets shared thousands of times claimed Democrats might have somehow intentionally infected the president with the coronavirus during the debates. Others speculated in Facebook posts that maybe the president was faking his illness. And the news also ignited constant conjecture among QAnon followers, who peddle a baseless belief that Trump is a warrior against a secret network of government officials and celebrities that they falsely claim is running a child trafficking ring.
Rumors that the iPhone 12 won’t ship with headphones in the box have been spreading for months, but Apple might have accidentally confirmed the change.
Code in the recent iOS 14.2 beta features altered language that no longer includes the phrase “supplied headphones,” suggesting they are being removed.
Apple is also expected to remove the power adapter from the iPhone 12 box.
Speculation swirling around future iPhone models never ends, but it’s not often that we hear rumors about the other items the come inside the box. 2020 is much different, though, as leakers and analysts have been saying for months that Apple would finally do away with the power adapter and the wired headphones that have traditionally shipped in the box with the iPhone. And now we might have definitive proof of this straight from Apple.
Don’t expect to see a OnePlus 8T Pro announced alongside the standard OnePlus 8T next month, Android Authority reports. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau (or Liu Zuohu as he’s known in China) confirmed the news via a post on Weibo, in which he said anyone looking for a Pro device can continue to buy the OnePlus 8 Pro released earlier this year. However, Lau added that the company still has some surprises in store during its One Plus 8T reveal, scheduled for October 14th.
OnePlus first introduced a Pro version of its phones with last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro, which was the premium alternative to the OnePlus 7. The company followed them up with the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro later in the year. However, while the standard OnePlus 7T
