Army researchers are working with the University of Illinois Chicago on unmanned technology for recharging drone swarms.
The university has been awarded a four-year, $8 million cooperative agreement “to develop foundational science in two critical propulsion and power technology areas for powering future families of unmanned aircraft systems,” according to a statement released by the Army Research Laboratory.
“This collaborative program will help small battery-powered drones autonomously return from military missions to unmanned ground vehicles for recharging,” the Army added. “The university is developing algorithms to enable route planning for multiple teams of small unmanned air and ground vehicles.”

LAS CRUCES – Small unmanned aircraft system virtual workshops were held by staff from New Mexico State University’s Physical Science Laboratory in collaboration with the USDA Agricultural Research Service Scientific Computing Program Sept. 30 and Oct. 7. Oluwakemi Dauda, a 20-year-old University of Michigan student, isn’t easily satisfied. When she noticed that her high school was lacking teachers and resources, so much so that the ceiling was rotting away, she took matters into her own hands and registered for a computer application class and sought support from non-profit education organization NAF to supplement her education.
That led her to create Steps to Success, an educational app for young children with severe literacy issues in Detroit. When she launched the tool in 2015, 50% of adults in Detroit were considered “functionally illiterate.”

Nvidia (NVDA) – Get Report said Monday it was partnering with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – Get Report and its artificial intelligence group to use AI for developing new drugs and vaccines, while building a supercomputer to aid researchers in their work on the coronavirus and other challenges.
Shares of Nvidia, the Santa Clara, Calif.-based computer graphics chip company, were up 3.4% to $540.08, while American depositary receipts of GlaxoSmithKline rose 1.5% to $37.79.
