Following the September “Time Flies” media event for new Apple Watch and iPad models, Apple today announced an October event called “Hi, Speed” that will focus primarily on new iPhones — the most popular products and biggest revenue generators from the world’s largest tech company. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. Pacific Time on October 13, and once again will use a virtual format with footage streamed from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California to viewers online.
The stakes are atypically high for Apple this year, as the latest iPhones will be Apple’s first to embrace 5G cellular technology, nearly two years after rivals such as Samsung showed and started to release the earliest 5G devices. “The new target date will deconflict the Crew-1 launch and arrival from upcoming Soyuz launch and landing operations. This additional time is needed to ensure closure of all open work, both on the ground and aboard the station, ahead of the Crew-1 arrival. SpaceX delivered the Crew Dragon spacecraft that will be used for this flight to Cape Canaveral in Florida back in August. The capsule

TikTok, which has Chinese owners, announced it would pull its viral video app from Hong Kong’s mobile stores in the coming days even as President Donald Trump threatened to ban it in the U.S.
ByteDance Ltd., TikTok’s Chinese owner, has asked the court to block the ban, set to begin on Sunday night, even as it pursues approvals from the government for the sale of a stake in its U.S. operations to Oracle Corp. and Walmart Inc. under pressure from President Donald Trump.
Trump cited national security last month in announcing a ban on
