Motherboard manufacturer Asus has confirmed it’s 400-series chipset motherboards will still support AMD’s new Ryzen 5000-series Zen 3 CPUs.
The company was forced to issue a statement today following a supposed slip up by one of its customer service representatives. In a post on Reddit, one user claims to have been told by Asus that the company would not be releasing new BIOS versions for its older 400-series chipset motherboards to allow them to work with Zen 3 CPUs such as the Ryzen 9 5950X. As a result, owners of said boards would not be able to upgrade their CPUs.
Instead, the representative suggested purchasing a newer motherboard to replace the user’s premium X470 model. AMD has been quite clear that X470 motherboards would support Ryzen 5000 CPUs and recently confirmed that motherboard manufacturers were working on BIOS versions accordingly, with 400-series boards
Apple’s latest iPhone 12 models are the first to feature 5G connectivity, but access to ultra-fast mmWave bands are limited to customers in the U.S.
Support for speedy 5G connectivity was a central selling point when Apple announced the new handsets on Tuesday. According to a support document, however, access to bands that offer the greatest data transfer potential are limited to certain models.
As noted by Apple, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone mini integrate Qualcomm radios compatible with the n260 and n261 bands, which operate at 39GHz and 28GHz, respectively. Known as mmWave, these high-frequency bands feature wavelengths that can be measured in millimeters instead of centimeters or larger, and provide ample data transfer capability with bandwidths exceeding 3GHz.
While Apple’s 5G-compatible iPhones support a wide range of bands, including those that operate in the robust sub-6GHz spectrum, mmWave is restricted
As expected, the entire iPhone 12 lineup is compatible with faster 5G networks, but Apple’s website confirms that support for high-frequency mmWave bands is limited to models sold in the United States. This includes compatibility with Verizon’s new 5G Ultra Wideband network, which as of today is available in 55 cities across the country.
mmWave is supported on all iPhone 12 models sold in the United States, ranging from the iPhone 12 mini to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. iPhone 12 models sold in all other countries and regions are limited to sub-6GHz bands for 5G.
mmWave is a set of 5G frequencies that promise ultra-fast speeds at short distances, making it best suited for dense urban areas. By comparison, sub-6GHz 5G is generally slower than mmWave, but the signals travel further, better serving suburban and rural areas. In most countries that offer 5G, sub-6GHz networks are more common.

One of Wall Street’s favorite charitable organizations has raised several million dollars to support a fund that invests in nonprofit groups run by people of color.
The Robin Hood foundation’s Power Fund kicked off this summer as the coronavirus pandemic spread and amid nationwide protests sparked by the police killing of George Floyd on Memorial Day.
Robin Hood funds over 200 poverty-fighting programs in New York City. It is led by Wes Moore, an author and former investment banker at Citigroup.
“I think part of the thing we’ve seen is that everything we’ve witnessed post George Floyd, these aren’t new things because of George Floyd,” Moore told CNBC. “I think that the conversations we’ve been able to

Members of the UK’s telecommunications industry are concerned that support for the country’s 5G networks may be limited in the upcoming “iPhone 12” release, with fears it may not include support for 700MHz networks.
It is believed 5G will be an important feature for the 2020 iPhone range, with the new communications technology promising high speed connectivity to consumers. However, Apple’s popular iPhone may cause issues for some carriers, depending on Apple’s implementation of the technology.
According to analysts speaking to The Telegraph, if Apple elects to not include support for 700MHz 5G bands, this could prevent it from working fully with carriers that build out their networks using it. Carriers are expected to take part in a 700MHz spectrum auction set to take place in early 2021, organized by national regulator Ofcom.
Carriers had the opportunity to reuse existing unused spectrum they own for 5G
Honda appears to be preparing its 2021 Accord range of sedan cars to have wireless CarPlay available to use, a feature that does away with the need to tether an iPhone to the infotainment system.
Shared in a tip to AppleInsider, a PDF version of the “Owner’s Manual” labeled for the 2021 Accord details how to use the variety of features included in different variants of the car range. Searches of the manual indicate Honda intends to offer both Siri Eyes Free and Apple CarPlay to buyers of the model, though availability of the features may only be offered on select models in the range, or as a customization.
Pages describing how to get started with CarPlay in the vehicle include references to using the feature with a compatible iPhone via both wired and wireless avenues. Wired access will use the USB port within the center pocket
Intel has confirmed its next-gen Rocket Lake desktop processors will launch in Q1 2021 and include PCIe 4.0 support.
Intel’s John Bonini, VP and GM of Client Computing Group Desktop, Workstations and Gaming, posted in a blog today, detailing the company’s commitment to gaming. The successors to the current Comet Lake 10th Gen processors are expected, amongst other things to bring PCIe 4.0 support – currently lacking from its mainstream CPUs, which have meant they’ve lagged behind AMD’s current 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs that brought the new standard to its AM4 platform last year. Not only this, but Nvidia’s recent RTX 3000 series graphics cards also support PCIe 4.0.
The launch of Intel’s Z490 chipset and 10th Gen CPUs several months ago saw several motherboard manufacturers reveal that their new products
Ride-hailing giant Uber Technologies Inc. outlined ways staff can support a state measure that would designate drivers as contractors rather than full-time employees, seeking additional backing for a controversial initiative that labor unions and at least one in-house engineer have publicly opposed.
In a companywide email Friday obtained by Bloomberg, Uber’s head of global public policy Justin Kintz said data “show a tight race” to pass California’s Proposition 22, a measure written and funded by Uber, Lyft Inc. and other gig companies that would replace an earlier law designed to treat drivers as employees. Kintz’s email, which includes links to talking points from the Yes on 22 campaign, also suggests ways employees can get involved, including joining a texting bank, and links to a sample email staffers can send to family and friends. Uber will have a special Town Hall-type meeting Oct.
