Stocks are pushing higher on Wall Street in afternoon trading Monday and tacking more gains onto last week’s market rally, its best in three months.
The S&P 500 was 1.8% higher, following up on strengthening in stock markets around the world. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 308 points, or 1.1%, at 28,895, as of 12:35 p.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 2.6% higher.
The gains are being driven mostly by Big Tech stocks, whose businesses have proven to be practically impervious to the pandemic, rather than companies that would benefit from a strengthening economy.
Apple climbed 5.4% and alone accounted for nearly a quarter of the S&P 500’s rise. Amazon gained 5.1%. Both companies have events coming up this week, with Apple expected to unveil its latest batch of iPhones on Tuesday and Amazon holding its Prime

Challenger rugged smartphone brand Blackview will launch the campaign for its first 5G smartphone within the next few weeks on Indiegogo, which is rapidly turning into the preferred battleground for guerilla style, low cost marketing campaigns.
The BL6000 Pro owes its name to the 2016 BV6000, the company’s first successful foray into rugged smartphones, but will prove to be a different beast entirely with 5G connectivity baked in.
Based on the MediaTek Dimensity 800, it also features 8GB of RAM and 256GB onboard storage (hopefully UFS) with a triple rear camera setup that includes a 48-megapixel AI camera – likely to be the same as on the BV9900 Pro.

A tasting tour of Farm.One, September 2019.

During the 2020 Forbes AgTech+ Under 30 weekend Hackathons, I am reminded of my time as cofounder of Ube Kitchen, a plant-based startup—now closed due to the pandemic—inside a 10×10 tent along with dozens of other food makers at the outdoor Smorgasburg food markets in New York City. Running the business also meant building relationships with farmers for the best ingredients that are also constantly innovating. Especially when I would visit Farm. One for the shocking delicious tastes from microgreens, herbs and flowers grown vertically and hydropincally. The network of farmers became like family when I would call a Miami dragon fruit supplier who shared her stories for protecting her fruits during hurricanes and then speaking to her mother, who owned a distribution center in Manhattan, about
(Bloomberg) — Polish video game developer CD Projekt Red told employees on Monday that six-day work weeks will be mandatory leading up to the November release of the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077, reneging on an earlier promise to not force overtime on the project.
Red, a subsidiary of Poland’s biggest gaming company CD Projekt SA, has been criticized previously for engaging in “crunch,” an industry term for excessive overtime in game development. CD Projekt Red co-chief executive officer Marcin Iwinski last year told gaming website Kotaku that the company would be
Apple is investigating hydrogen fuel cells in mobile devices as an alternative to present battery charging technology, partly to achieve far longer battery life, but also to be more ecologically sound.
Apple patents are always about technology, or systems to use that technology, and occasionally they are specifically for devices such as the MacBook Pro. The newly granted “Portable computing device for external fuel cell control,” is all of these things, but it’s also unusual in how it sets out both the environmental and the political concerns that have prompted it.
“Our country’s continuing reliance on fossil fuels has forced our government to maintain complicated political and military relationships with unstable governments in the Middle East,” says Apple’s patent, “and has also exposed our coastlines and our citizens to the associated hazards of offshore drilling.”
“These problems have led to an increasing awareness and desire on the part of consumers

The Houston Cougars are again without a season-opening football game after North Texas had to cancel Saturday’s scheduled game because of several positive COVID-19 tests.
It is the third different expected opponent in the last two weeks unable to play the Cougars.
North Texas said there were four positive tests week, which combined with contact tracing left the Mean Green unable to field a team. The school didn’t specify any particular position group or how many additional people needed to self-isolate because of contact tracing.
Houston was scheduled to play last Friday at Memphis, but the American Athletic Conference put off that game a week in advance because of a virus outbreak among the Tigers. That game was replaced by a hastily arranged reunion with former Southwest Conference rival Baylor last Saturday, but the Bears
